"If a doula were a drug, it would be malpractice not to use it." By Dr. John Kennell

The birth of each child creates a new family. It could be your first child, or second, or fifth, each child changes the family dynamic. Each baby and family is different, so the services I provide for each family varies depending on need. I feel it an honor and privilege to share this most miraculous event with you.
I supported my first birth on April 1, 1992. I received my DONA certification in 2003, and my Triple P accreditation October 2008. I am currently working on my Intro to Midwifery from Ancient Art of Midwifery. Over the years I have had the opportunity to attend various continuing education classes, that range in topic from "The Lure of Induction", to "The Art of Labor Support", "Optimal Fetal Positioning", Postpartum Home Care", "Using your Birth Ball", "Teaching Breastfeeding", "Quick Guide to Lactation Teaching", and "Acupressure in Childbirth".
I have been blessed to support over 100 families in pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting. The one thing they have in common is that they come from various backgrounds, cultures, economic status, and structures. I have attended births in hospitals, birthing centers, and at home. It is your pregnancy, birth and family, and I support you in your choices.
I volunteer with Operation Special Delivery, supporting military families in childbirth who are separated by war. I have worked with teens in foster care that were pregnant. I was one of the first doula volunteers with a local hospital.
My doula practice is slightly different than others because I offer the Positive Parenting resource to my clients. As an accredited Triple P practitioner I offer parenting consultation as part of my birth practice. This is an evidence based program to help parents with issues that arise in everyday parenting.
It is my a servant’s heart that has taken me down the path to be a doula. When a family chooses me to be with them on their path of parenting, it is a privilege that I do not take lightly. I provide education, resources, support and encouragement.
My husband and I have 5 children who are 24, 20, 18, 16 & 13, Our little angel would be 14, she passed away at 20 weeks gestation. Over the years I have had the opportunity to be a foster mom to many. My home has always been the home where kids feel comfortable, and I am the "cool" mom at the jr high & high school.
Below you will find a list of past and present memberships, trainings, certifications, and volunteer experience. I feel that by providing you with this list it will help you in the important decision of choosing a doula.
